How useful are SPMTs?
SPMTs are one of the most versatile tools available for heavy load movement. Because they can be configured modularly (both longitudinally and transversely) they can be tailored to suit a wide range of load sizes and weights. This adaptability, combined with multiple steering modes including crab, transverse and carousel steering, means they can operate effectively even in the most constrained working environments.
How do SPMTs work?
Lift Equip’s KAMAG K2400 SPMTs operate using an electro-hydraulic drive, steering, braking and suspension system. Axle lines are computer-controlled and can be connected side by side or end to end to form the configuration required for a given load. Each axle line has a capacity of 30,000 kg, and with 30 axle lines available across the Lift Equip fleet, substantial total load capacities can be achieved. Operation is via joystick control, allowing the operator to select from multiple steering modes including normal, crab, transverse and carousel for accurate handling in complex or restricted site conditions. Two Power Pack Units (PPUs) provide the drive for the system.
Final load capacity is always subject to configuration, ground conditions, axle spacing and project-specific engineering.
